Scotty's Sportfishing - Welcome Aboard!

Catalina Island, California   (310)510-1570

Final Three Weeks
Fishing Catalina
With Captain Scotty!

August 1, 2010

This is it! The last 3 weeks of fishing Catalina Island with Captain Scotty aboard Persevere. The boat will be heading across the channel and all the way down to the Highland Lakes of Texas for some fresh water fishing and fun family charters. Our last day on the salty waves will be August 21st - so plan your trip today!

As far as fishing right now is concerned, July had its good days, but also a lot of slow fishing (for July!) We expected the WSB to slow down, but they were here and there throughout most of the month, because of the unusual cold water temps around the island and in the Southern California area in general.
Even though there has been a good south swell happening on and off, because of the cold water, the yellowtail was spotty throughout July. There were several mako sightings closer in to shore, but they seem to have moved along for now.

This is August and we are looking at temperatures edging up to 70. There is bait on the kelp patties, and signs of life are finally arriving. We are fishing for yellowtail, barracuda, bonito, halibut, rockfish, calico, sheephead, and anything else that might be biting.

If you have planned to give us a call, do it now because the clock is ticking on our island time!

Wishing you fun fishing!

Helpful hints in Booking your Charter

Thanks for considering booking with us. We are always happy to
help in anyway to make your stay in Catalina a better one...so don't be afraid to ask a question or two...I've been here a long time, and If I don't know the answer, I probably know someone who does!

It is always best to call at least a few days ahead of time at any time of year.
However, no matter when you call, we'll do our best to book you at the time that works for you (and the fish!).

Please know that we will never take a party out in bad weather. If it looks like mother nature doesn't feel like co-operating, we can re-schedule or cancel.
